Join us to learn about the current major Java initiatives being undertaken by the mobile and wireless industry. Stuart Marks and Gregg Sporar of Sun Microsystem will cover the latest on the Java ME platform and the Mobile Service Architecture (MSA), the new standards that provide enhanced functionality and access to the new capabilities of mobile devices, as well as the new tools that provide a convenient environment for developers to develop applications. They will conclude with a brief description of Sun's Java ME open source projects and the new Mobile and Embedded Community.

About the Speakers:

Stuart Marks is a Senior Staff Engineer in the Client Software Group of Sun Microsystems, Inc. He is currently the project owner of the phoneME Feature project, which is Sun's open source version of Java Micro Edition (Java ME) platform for use in high volume mobile devices. He has served on several JCP expert groups, including those for MIDP 1.0 and 2.0. He has extensive software design and development experience with Java platform APIs, window systems, and electronic payments systems.

Gregg Sporar has been a software developer for over twenty years, working on projects ranging from control software for a burglar alarm to 3D graphical user interfaces. His interests include development tools, user interfaces, and performance profiling. He is a Senior Staff Engineer at Sun Microsystems where he works as a Technical Evangelist on the NetBeans project.
