While the majority of us use emoticons to express emotions while typing computer messages, others use HTTP return codes

Yes, that is a Facebook group I encountered, which promotes the use of HTTP return codes as a “better emoticon”. From the group’s description:

HTTP return codes are a powerful way of expressing your inner emotions unambiguously and clearly to the outside world. From now on you need not respond vaguely when someone asks how you are just simply respond:

HTTP 200 OK

or

HTTP 417 Expectation failed

or even

HTTP 409 410 Gone

If people never get what you mean, well this is a sure fire way to set them straight.

HTTP 203 Non-Authoritative Information

…this is major geek stuff! :-)
