I made it! I have moved to WordPress! Well, almost.
Once I was able to solve the version incompatibility issues (i.e. OLD_PASSWORD) between the installed MySQL client and server (v4.1), the install was truly a breeze. But man, it was a pain to figure that one out! — in short, the hosting environment was not properly setup, and never assumed that is the case; this consumed many hours.
The new website is both my weblog, and my mobility resources, all package into one: the home page is the weblog, while the other pages contain the resources for mobile Java, web, LBS, and so on. I hope that you like this new format.
But there is much work ahead of me… still to be completed are:
- I have chosen a theme, please let me know if you like it,
- implement various redirects for top-level URLs, and,
- minimize broken permalinks for my old hundreds of posts… I am looking at various redirection and monitoring tools, which hopefully results in search engines and websites fixing their permanent references over time… Only time will tell if this is going to be effective.
In any case, it is good to be back blogging… and I’m sorry for taken so long, and for any broken links that you might encounter in the meantime, and for old posts getting re-published due to the move…
Update: it seems I may not be able to brink over my previous comments. Sorry about that.
