On ubiquity

A big theme post-PC era was ubiquitous computing.

…but ubiquitous computing is too abstract and means nothing all by itself.

But when applied to humans, ubiquitous computing is more about computing for the purpose of communication and for the purpose of information access. This is ubiquitous communication (communication anytime, everywhere), and information ubiquity (information everywhere). And the mobile handset is the perfect apparatus for this. Back to information ubiquity, I’m very excited about the “new click” and the role that radio and visual tags will play.

And when applied to non-humans, ubiquitous computing is about automation and intelligence into everyday ordinary objects.
