IMSI has nothing to do with a handset, it is a value personalized in the (U)SIM. There are specific rules for generating IMSI, indeed it includes MCC and MNC.</description>

Regarding IMSI: I know from experience Motorola phones return MCC and MNC in the IMSI, but is it stipulated by GSM to do so? Sony Ericsson phones return something completely different.</description>
