Requirement #1 for Mobile 2.0

It is not AJAX. It is not Java ME or other mobile platform. It is not Mobile Web. It is not texting. At least not by themselves.

It is –> F L A T     F E E     P L A N S!

For data, and messaging.

We are getting closer to that with each day that passes.

Rudy has been saying this for a long time, and I totally agreed with him back then. Fabrizio recently wrote Data plans dropping: not a coincidence, and agree with this as well.

  1. I disagree. What is needed is a compelling enough service/app/product that will drive more than just niche consumers to use the mobile web. When that happens, flat fee plans become just a means to keep that revenue stream coming.

    Maybe, maybe not. It is the chicken and the egg problem. Compelling-enough applications are connected ones. To promote usage, flat-fee is key.
