A word on short messaging -Regardless of SMS or MMS or Tweets, messaging is the best channel for notification-like distribution. Second to none. True SMS is way to expensive and prohibitive for many. SMS though is a cash-cow for network providers who must be terrified of Twitter. If targeting notification-like app such as promotions, SMS and Twitter is the way to go.

Hello, I did find your name on web after reading a nice article you issued at http://developers.sun.com/mobility/midp/articles/pushreg/
about capability of MIDP 2.0 Push Registry to deal with SMS arrival on java phones.
I am looking for a program to work on any mobile (not only smartphones) to make it work as a gps tracker : An SMS coming from server to start a program which has to send gps data to the server through SMS every x minutes and at the end of service an SMS to stop the program
do you think this may exist somewhere ?
